Leigh Iacovangelo

Director and Senior Physiotherapist

Over the past 10 years, Leigh has worked in both a clinical setting and within the elite sporting environment including Hockey Australia, Hockey Victoria, PGA Australasia tour, NBL with Melbourne United and individually with some of Australia’s leading ultra-marathon runners.

Leigh completed post graduate studies in Sports Physiotherapy in 2016 at La Trobe University. Leigh works closely with several of Melbourne’s leading surgeons and sports physicians and has developed a special interest in foot and ankle pathology. In 2017, after completing additional training, Leigh was employed by Foot and Ankle Rehabilitation Australia.  This furthered his development of an evidence-based assessment and treatment model. In addition, Leigh’s competencies in treating lower limb injuries as well as evidence-based implementation has seen him involved with two research papers at The University of Melbourne.

Leigh also has a passion for teaching and in 2021 he was employed by Deakin University as a casual academic to present on acute injury management and rehabilitation.

Leigh is the lead physiotherapist at Rowville Sports Academy, where his responsibilities include the assessment and management of over 800 sub-elite adolescent athletes and as a result he has an expanded skill set and knowledge in strength and conditioning and athletic development as well as comprehensive rehabilitation programs.

His reputation for clinical excellence resulted in his appointment as the lead physiotherapist for the Australian Indoor Hockey Team, a position he has held since 2015.

Outside of work, Leigh enjoys spending time with his family, playing premier league hockey and of course watching his beloved Collingwood Football Club.
